MONTHLY GENERAL MEETING MINUTES
Date: October 7, 2019
The meeting was opened at 7:10 pm with President Robert Casey presiding. Opening ceremonies were conducted.
Roll Call
All officers, except Michael Adams, were present. A total of 15 members and their spouses were present. Alicia Burden, Public Affairs Office and Carol McFarlane, Chief Social Work, both from the South Hillsborough VA Clinic, were present to give presentations. Also present was Gerard Lyons, National Cemetery Association. Members, spouses and guests numbered 31 people at the meeting.
Our membership has now increased to twenty-one members. Larry Lee and Ken Windisch joined this month.

Financial Report for March:
No report was given.
Old Business:
Alicia Burden, Public Affairs Office, South Hillsborough VA Clinic, spoke about the general operation of the VA clinic. She stated that each Veteran is assigned a team to work with them. The team includes a Doctor, Nurse, Social Worker, Pharmacist and others. Your team stays with you as long as you are with the VA.
Carol McFarlane, Chief Social Work, Spoke on such topic as transportation benefits, the lifeline and about the Social Work department. Gerard Lyons, National Cemetery Association, spoke about the burial benefits available for the Veteran. He showed a video about the Nation Cemeteries. Any Veteran and their spouse can be buried in a National Cemetery. There are 9 in Florida. All of the speakers were interesting, and those in attendance were pleased with what they heard.

Closing:
Tony Magerowski won the 50/50 drawing and donated it back to the Group. The total 50/50 drawing was $67.00. The meeting was closed at 9:10 pm.
The next meeting will be on Monday, November 4, 2019, 7:00 pm in the main room of the AC.
